Solar Panel Cleaning

Solar panel cleaning, done the right way

We highly value your solar panels and the investment you made in purchasing and installing them. We don't use just any brush or tool — we buy only the best.

SOLA-TECS C c1000 brush roller and splash guard, the German-made solar panel cleaning equipment we use

What's Included

Equipment + method that protects your panels

  • SOLA-TECS C c1000 brush roller

Mobile brush roller system, purely water-driven. Light, compact, powerful. Rotation speed of 700 RPM via a specialized telescope lance with a high-pressure hose inside.

  • No chemicals on your panels

Water-only cleaning protects the panel coating. Chemicals can void warranties and degrade efficiency — we don't use them.

  • German-made by Cleantecs GmbH

Cleantecs has been making high-pressure-cleaning accessories for 25+ years. The SOLA-TECS C is rated safe enough to use on glass — that's the standard the manufacturer holds it to.

  • Commercial-scale capable

Designed for rooftop arrays, warehouse fields, parking-canopy installs. The telescope lance reaches what ladders can't. Monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual maintenance plans available — pick the cadence that matches your environment (coastal vs inland, fire-season vs off, dust load).

Why It Matters

Why panel cleaning matters

Solar panels lose efficiency as dust, bird droppings, marine layer salt, and ash from California wildfires accumulate. Industry research on soiling losses puts the production hit as high as 30% on neglected installations — San Diego's coastal-and-fire mix puts most properties on the higher end of that range.

A panel-cleaning rig is a real piece of capital equipment. Most pressure-washing operators don't carry one. They'll either turn the work down or improvise with a soft-bristle brush and a garden hose — which works fine for a residential 8-panel setup and is a great way to scratch coatings on a 400-panel commercial array.

Solar Panel Cleaning FAQ

Common questions

How often should commercial solar panels be cleaned?

In San Diego, twice a year is a reasonable baseline; quarterly is better for coastal installs that get marine layer salt. After a fire-ash event or major dust storm, schedule a clean regardless of the calendar — production drops are immediate.

Will this void my panel warranty?

Water-only cleaning with a soft-bristle brush is what virtually every panel manufacturer specifies as the approved cleaning method. Pressure washers, chemicals, and abrasives are what void warranties. We don't use any of those on panels.

Can you clean rooftop installs?

Yes. The telescope lance reaches up to most commercial roofs from ground level, and we have the equipment to work safely from rooftops when needed. Warehouse rooftops, retail-center installs, parking canopies — all in scope.

Do you produce before/after meter data?

On request, yes. Most clients are satisfied with the visual change; some run kWh production reports across the cleaning date to confirm the lift. Either way works for us.
